Digital 2D Media: Work from VISA 0150
Project 1: Color as Medium
Exploring the ways we can and can't use color in CMYK and RGB. This digital illustration relied on blend modes and adjustment layers in Photoshop to create a liminal space between the CMYK and RBG versions of the image. The central character, a gender-ambiguous cloud-headed figure, exists in a state of (non-) existence and perception, toeing the line between reality and a cybernetic "Matrix"-type world. Who is real? Who is fake?

Project 2: Cutting Line
Using a series of questions, this piece creates a unique piece with each combination of answer in Illustrator.

Project 3: Steal This Book
Using found text and images in the public domain, this small newsprint zine (ed.13) explores text and image.

Final Project: Light It Up
This final piece explores light and materiality in the form of a book made from alternating laser cut clear and opaque acrylic panels. Certain words or images were cut, engraved, or rastered onto the pages. Clear fluorescent panels toe the line between luminous and illuminated, and opaque panels allow for natural light to come through or for pages beneath to be seen. While the project originally began with an interest in natural/artificial light and illuminated/luminous materias this shifted a bit. After gathering images for inspiration, I wrote a poem based on light and hope for the text. I divided the lines into ‘pages’ and formatted the book in InDesign. Illustrator was used to create the file for laser cutting.
